It is likely that we are all aware how beneficial it is for fathers to spend time with their children and to have fun with them. For children this bonding becomes an important part of growing up since fathers and father figures have such a strong influence on their lives.

In many families for a variety of reasons there are few opportunities for dad’s to get together with their kids and one of the reasons is the lack of venues where they can go.

The Warehouse Centre however does provide a suitable venue where this bonding and quality time together can take place. The Dad’s and Kid’s club runs every Saturday without fail. The club, sponsored by Essex County Council through the Children’s Fund runs on a weekly basis between the hours of 10.30am and 1.30pm. The club welcomes all fathers and father figures together with their children aged 5 and over. It provides a whole range of activities so there is never a dull moment. There is pool, table tennis, table football, basket ball, skittles, playstations and much more. There is also a theme or activity taking place almost every week with regular trips organised. The young energetic team who run the club do a fantastic job and work hard to ensure that everyone has a good time. There is no admission charge at all and an excellent food service where hot and cold drinks and food is available at very reasonable prices. The popular menu includes egg and bacon rolls for just £1.50 and cheese toasties for £1 to name but two items, to make everyone feel really welcome the first drink is provided free of charge every week. The club themes are always very popular and welcomed by the dads’ and kids alike. When we recently asked our members what makes the club so special we received a variety of positive responses, “It gives me time to relax with my son and spend quality time with him (when he's not playing with the other kids that is) which is hard to do during the week due to work, school and club commitments,” “ Saturday mornings have been all the more fulfilling since the start club's inception and long may it continue to operate.”

So why not come down to the Dad’s and Kid’s club in S-Kape at the Warehouse Centre and give it a try. There are no set times so you can just drop in during opening hours whenever you want to and enjoy all the facilities and activities on offer whilst having fun and spending quality time with your children.
