Hey there, I’m Leanne and I’m the leader of the Dads ‘N’ Kids club run every Saturday morning here at the Warehouse Centre. I also work at the Tuesday youth club. I have worked at the centre for almost a year and a half now. I originally started by volunteering at the youth club to build up hours for my Millennium Volunteers award where during my gap year I completed over 300 hours of voluntary work. I then started working at Megazone where I still work now, and just became more involved with the centre before taking over Dads ‘N’ Kids in April 2006.
At present I am a university student studying my BSc in Psychology. I did atend the Ursuline in Brentwood where I completed my A Levels achieving 4 A grades and a B. I live at home and commute to the uni which makes it easy for me to keep up work here at the centre. I want to hopefully become an educational psychologist so spent my gap year building up work experience in various child environments, including volunteering two days a week as a teaching assistant at a local infant school. I very much enjoy psychology which looks at the science of the mind, I achieved a first grade in the year I have just completed and hopefully shall endeavour to continue doing well for the rest of my degree.
During my spare time I am part of my university dance and cheerleading teams. My dance team are the regional champions, the national champions and have recently achieved second place at the international competition held in Brighton. Cheerleading is a lot of hard work. I originally joined thinking it would just be something fun to do but it turned out to be a major workout and very intense training, there is a lot more to it then people realise where the girls and guys have to stay very physically fit to be able to lift and thrown one another as well as dance, jump, split and leap. It is all a lot of fun though and you get a lot out of it.
I very much enjoy my jobs and meeting all you lovely people that come into the centre at Dads ‘N’ Kids, Skape and Megazone. Dads ‘N’ Kids leader in particular is a very fun job to have as I get to organise different themes, trips and activities and get very much involved with these which is a lot of fun. I shall look forward to hopefully meeting more of you in the future. Till then, BYE x x x
